Whats not to love about California?

Great beaches, terrific weather , Nice Beaches ,Good weather (did I forget to mention the beaches and the weather?)

However, recently it appears many are not so enchanted with the Golden State.   It appears to some that the- take your pick-

  • high cost of living
  • inflated real estate values
  • high tax rates
  • high gas costs- $5 a gallon
  • Poor Business climate
  • prevalient entitlement mentality
  • the widening class gap
  • huge budget and pension short fall
  • is California the new Greece?
  • etc,etc

may have given some the needed nudge to ditch for more economic  friendlier pastures

Over the past couple years studies have shown that California has lost a few million in population.  The most common age group leaving are those between 5-15 years and 34-45 years- Young Families

From the WSJ:

“Nearly four million more people have left the Golden State in the last two decades than have come from other states. This is a sharp reversal from the 1980s, when 100,000 more Americans were settling in California each year than were leaving. According to Mr. Kotkin, most of those leaving are between the ages of 5 and 14 or 34 to 45. In other words, young families.”

From Fox News:

“States that have gained the most at California’s expense are rated as having  better business climates,” the study concluded. “The data suggest that many cost  drivers —taxes, regulations, the high price of housing and commercial real  estate, costly electricity, union power, and high labor costs — are prompting  businesses to locate outside California, thus helping to drive the exodus.”
